Jamie King is a Welsh artist whose work merges digital techniques with traditional block print aesthetics. Based in Gower, South Wales, Jamie imports to his printmaking over two decades of visual experience from a distinguished career as a documentary film director. His award-winning films, now archived at London's British Film Institute, have screened at international festivals from Sheffield to SXSW.
These prints combine pioneering digital production methods with hand-drawn images based on the artist's original photographs. The results are printed by the artist with his own custom ink formulations using the piezo or giclée technology first developed by Graham Nash (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) in the 1990s. In the process, the digital disappears: what remains are artefacts of observation, care and deep engagement with image.
Jamie is currently creating a series of limited edition prints documenting the Gower region, where he lives and works.
